Driving the boat and enjoying the lake the day I went into labor.Oh my goodness... where do I begin? It has been 16 days since Kai has been born. We have millions of pictures and stories already. I've got to get moving on my blog or I will be so far behind... and you know I can't handle that :) Plus, my dad is going crazy with anticipation for a new post.
I'll start where I left off with my last post... being 9.5 months pregnant.
Over the Forth of July weekend, Lee, the boys and a very pregnant me headed to our lake cottage. We spent Friday going on boat rides and relaxing. After we put the boys to bed, Lee and I enjoyed watching some fireworks outside. I was getting some stronger contractions during the fireworks, but they fizzled out later on. I didn't sleep very well that night and when I woke up in the morning I found myself to be incredibly tired. I fell back asleep around 9am and slept until noon! My body was defiantly preparing for something.
My super social husband, Lee, decided that we needed to host a Forth of July party on our deck that afternoon. He told me, "you can just sit back and relax and I'll do all the work." I was thinking, "Yeah right!" Well it turned out to be a very fun party and Lee did do all the work. We ended up having 47 people over (yes, we counted) and they all managed to fit comfortably on our deck overlooking the lake! Lee went to the store and bought snacks and supplies. He made margaritas all afternoon for everyone (He was good about not partaking in case he had to take me to the hospital) and he had good tunes playing outside the entire time. Lee kept making me sit down and kick my legs up. It was great! The boys enjoyed visiting and playing with everyone for about an hour of the party and then my mom and dad watched them at their cottage. We had a wonderful time and I was very relaxed.
That night we filled our pontoon and Sam & Beth's wakeboard boat up with friends & kids and sat in the middle of the lake watching the fireworks. There is nothing like this! Fireworks exploding all around you, everywhere you look, reflecting off of the water. It is amazing! I started getting strong contractions again during the fireworks. Lee, the boys, and I decided to call it a night around 11pm.
On Sunday I felt really good. I had lots of energy and enjoyed the day. We went on a couple of boat rides and spent some time with my Mom and Mamaw. As we were cleaning our cottage and packing up I started to feel very uncomfortable. I had lots of pressure and found it difficult to walk and bend over. I told Lee, "This is different. I wouldn't be surprised if I was kicking into labor." We went to a pizza place in Hamilton and met my dad. I took a beach towel just in case my water broke :)
When we got home we put the boys to bed and I took a shower. As soon as I was clean, ready for bed and in my pajamas (around 10pm) my water broke! I couldn't believe it. I called my mom and sister, Amy, right away because I knew I wanted them there when I had the baby. Amy had to drive all the way up from Indy! We called Sam & Beth and told them the news and sent them over to tell my dad (to make a long story short... my dad's cell phone fell in the lake that day and he was staying up at their lake cottage that night because he had to work in Avilla the next morning. We had no other way of contacting him except to send Sam & Beth around the lake to let him know the news!)
Lee sent out a text to all of our siblings to let them know that I was going into labor. Lee's brother, Dan, sent back a text saying, "It was the Rose Brothers pizza you ate tonight that did it!" My mom, dad, and Amy quickly showed up and we made beds for them on our couches. I wasn't having any contractions yet... so my wonderful coach, Lee, told me I needed to get some sleep while I could. I fell asleep around 1am and slept until 6am. How great is that?
To be continued...
